Keathley Art

Keathley exhibits at library
The artwork of Warren County artist/historian Chris Keathley can be viewed at Magness Memorial Library through Oct. 31. A devoted genealogist and history enthusiast from his youth, Keathley is exhibiting some of his award-winning, mixed-media paintings and drawings in the library lobby and on the upper level in the newly-opened Heritage Room. Keathley works in a variety of media, sometimes in combination, to create often historically relevant works of art, sensitively combining his passion for local history with a uniquely personal artistic technique. Included in the show are pen and ink and watercolor portrait drawings of local legendary figures including Dr. Thomas Black, W.S. Lively, J. Fletch. Woodward, James T. Kelton, Stokley D. Rowan and William H. Magness Jr. He believes that art, like photography, is an important vehicle for preserving history. His research and artistic talents have assisted Monty Wanamaker in establishing The Southern Museum and Galleries of Photography, Culture and History at 107 E. Morford St. In May and June 2002, Keathley's first one-man show of his artwork was exhibited at The Station - Pure Art, corner of Spring and Morford streets.
